so i have a diamondback 3G.
but for some reason now, it just turns on and off whenever it feels like and when i mess with the connecting cord right under the clicker part, itll temporarily fix it.
anywho,

im in need of buying a new mouse, i was thinking the the XAI by steelseries, but wut do you think esea family?

ms 3.0. i've had mine for 2 years and it still works great. only problem i've had with the 3.0 is I had to buy some mouse skates for it.

I agree, if you're used to Razer I'd go ahead and upgrade to the DA. It's a great mouse

A word of advice though, get this one. newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82...

Cheaper, and imo a better mouse. Not really liking the 3500 dpi of the new one. I needed to replace my old one though because I screwed it up while traveling, and didn't feel like waiting so just went and bought one from best buy.

I'm not sure I would call DB -> DA an upgrade. The sensor is different, but after using the DB, it would be tough (at least for me) to get used to only having 5 mouse buttons.

my mouse is also pretty much dead too. the scroll wheel doesn't respond at all and the right click tends to go out when it feels necessary. on top of all this, the bottom part of it grabs on to the mouse pad. the mouse is the razer death adder, and before it started breaking down i thought it was an amazing mouse (better than the g5 for sure). so i'd tell you to get the death adder, however, i've heard great things about the xai.

I think that you should get a new pilliga mouse,

negative, Ive had 3 G5's all with this issue and it is not the sensor. If you wiggle the cord right at the base of the mouse and it makes a difference then your repeated swipes of the mouse have fatigued the wires inside the cord and their protective covering has broken. When the wires touch or become disconnected it confuses the USB controller and the mouse gets disconnected. When the wires go back into place it'll try to reconnect hence the mouse turning on and off randomly.

The fix for this is pretty easy. Ive done it for all 3 of mine and I can step you through it but basically you need to unscrew your mouse and open the casing, unplug the cord from the mouses internal circuit board, cut the wire at the break and strip the wires of the long end back half inch or so doing the same for the other end, then use electrical tape to tape like colored wires together and plug the mouse back in and repackage it.

oh, logitech support just classifies it as a lazer defect.

I guess they don't want to say that their cord isn't that durable, I suspected it was the cord when it first started dying.

Do they even still sell g5s?

do that but i added some speaker wire to the part that was frayed and it works great now!

g5s have been replaced by the G500 which is basically the same overall shape with an extra button, better hardware, and they moved the DPI toggle buttons. I have a g500 as well and if you like the g5's you'll probably like it too

#27 on the G5 there is one under the front and back skid pad, and one under the bottom sticker. I imagine its something to that effect. Unscrewing the mouse will void the warranty so dont do it if its still under warranty and you arent confident in your ability to fix it.

I think I've decided to get a death adder. Ive read to many reviews about the Xai being faulty. Plus the da and db are literallythe same price except the da has an improved sensor.

i absolutely hated that mouse, i don't even remember why. I think it was because it hurt my hand after playing for a long period of time. Dunno if my hands were just too small back then though.

#37 It's because the sensor is crap. The Deathadder and Diamondback 3Gs are the only good mice Razer has put out.

#38 I'll take that back. The Salmosa also has the 1800 DPI 3G sensor. Only 3 buttons though.

All their high DPI and "3.5G" sensor mice are crap, including the new high DPI deathadder.

#15 no they dont sell the g5 anymore but you can call logitech and tell them it has broken on you and they will send you the g500 free of charge just have your pid number on the bottom of your g5 ready.

Ya mine had the same problem with the shitty wire on it. Kept shorting out cutting off and on randomly. But now I have had the g500 for about 4 months or so now and haven't had any issues at all with it.

#47 I'd still call Logitech and get the free g500 cost you nothing whatsoever. I mean a free mouse how can you pass that up :D. I know what you mean though about the buttons on it the DPI buttons are in a weird spot, can easily hit them while shooting.
